Dynamic Courses

*** The course designs below are from the February 6, 2010 event ***

Below you will find detailed event and course layouts so you know what to expect.  All drivers will be pitting together and will all have large assigned spaces to park your car and stow your equipment/gear. Instead of a small lots with a single short course, TPW will be made up of two completely different courses covering nearly 1,000,000 sq ft of space at Tropicana Field.  To see an arial view of the area, click here.

The GRIP Course was designed to take advantage of the size and layout of the parking lots at Tropicana Field.  Due to the natural elevation in the lot, there are banked corners, off camber corners and uphill/downhill sections.  Unlike a standard autocross where you'll find plenty of slaloms and tight areas to maneuver, the GRIP course features long straights and wide sweeping corners to let you stretch your vehicle's legs.  The main straight is 600' long, you can expect top speeds upwards of 70+ mph. The course layout offers plenty of runoff and 'oops' space in case you get in a little over your head and will feature plenty of safety barriers and clearly visible landmarks to help guide you through the course without incident.

Timing will be handled by a brand new RACE AMERICA timing system and will display active times via LCD monitors in the driver's tent.

Note: There are TWO course designs for the GRIP. As a registered driver, you will get a chance to vote for the course you would rather drive, the most popular course will be built for the event!

(Course designed and tested with: Lotus Elise, 2010 V6 Mustang, Mini Cooper S)

The DRIFT course was designed, tested and retested to make sure it was both safe and challenging to drivers of all levels.  The main straight is 600' long (READ: 3rd Gear) and will allow the higher power/more experienced drivers to push their cars to the limits, but will also feature staggered starting gates so drivers can ease into the distance and speed over the course of the event.  The course layout offers plenty of runoff and 'oops' space in case you get in a little over your head and will feature plenty of safety barriers and clearly visible landmarks to help guide you through the course without incident.

(Course designed and tested with: SR20DET S13, KA24DE S13, 2010 V6 Mustang)
